Elephant in the Room

Meet the Bagshaws. A very normal family.

What happens when we button ourselves up? Keep a stiff upper lip? Put on a brave face on it?

Dark, absurd and set against a powerful soundscape; Elephant in the Room is a close up focus on the minutiae of life for one seriously repressed family unit.

Elephant in the Room enjoyed an Open Space residency at Bradford Theatre in the Mill, featured in ‘Emerge’ and went on to be performed at the Roundhouse as part of Accidental Festival.

‘Yvonne has it all! She’s a real success story – model career, model relationship, brand new chrome kitchen with a designer fridge. Yvonne is really, really happy with her lot. And she definitely doesn’t want a baby. Definitely not.’

Performed at Ilkley Literature Festival & Midget Gems.

Elephant in the Room Trilogy

Three contrasting scenarios explore the lengths we go to to avoid facing up to the uncomfortable parts of our realities, and the consequences of consistently burying our heads in the sand, refusing to face up to that which is staring right at us.

A trilogy of short plays on the theme of denial, developed for and performed at Newstages 2010.

Antithesis

Two women with the same objective. One has the fresh face of youth as her ally; the other has the fine lines and wisdom of life’s lessons on her side. Will naivety or disillusionment be their downfall?

Antithesis  toured with Midget Gems in 2008 was programmed as part of Newstages festival in March 2009.
